Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito is back in the news after allegedly being involved in an altercation that led to a trespass warning back in June.
Sgt. Bobby Hernandez with the Miami Beach police told NFL.com and NFL Network that Incognito wasn't arrested or booked into jail after being accused of having involvement in a fight at Club Liv.
According to the Miami Beach police report, a man who was guarding the stage at Club Liv told police that Incognito and his group were trying to get closer to a performer on stage. The man guarding the stage -- Carlos Joseph, 33, of Miami-Dade County -- told police that he told Incognito and his group to "please step back."
The report stated that Joseph said one of the men in Incognito's group responded by pushing and yelling at him, which instigated a fight that involved Joseph, Incognito and Incognito's friends. Incognito's group then was escorted out of the club.
Incognito told police a different version of the events. Incognito said he and his friends were near the stage when he noticed a fight between friends in his group and Joseph. Incognito said he "was trying to break up the altercation when he got hit in the face" by Joseph.
Incognito had "minor injuries" to his face but refused treatment. Because of the warning, Incognito can't go back to the club without the owner's permission. If Incognito goes back without permission, he can be jailed.
It's unclear if the NFL will punish Incognito for this infraction. Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith was suspended for two preseason games and one regular-season game for swinging his helmet at Incognito after the two men mixed it up in last week's preseason game.
