EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Denver Broncos had four receivers score at least 10 touchdowns this season. However, they couldn't get separation against Seattle's deep secondary throughout Super Bowl XLVIII.
Cornerback Richard Sherman said the Broncoscouldn't handle Seattle's physical style as the game wore on.
"We felt like that later on in the game, like they felt us," Sherman said on NFL Network's "NFL GameDay Final." "They weren't looking to come up there and block."
Michael Irvin asked Sherman how long it took for the Broncos receivers to back off.
"Maybe around the third quarter, after Percy had the big, huge return," Sherman said. "You see them come out there, they ran the same bubble screens and their linemen were coming out real aggressive, blocking hard and as they should.
"And in the second half they weren't coming out as aggressive," Sherman added. "Our D-line was pursuing like crazy. Their receivers were a little more hesitant."
Sherman, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the Seahawks' 43-8 win, couldn't finish the contest. But the result was long decided before he exited.
From top to bottom, the Seahawks' defense simply didn't let Denver's record-breaking offense breathe.
