RGIII on Jay Gruden: Not my job to judge him as a coach

The relationship between Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden and quarterback Robert Griffin III appears to be one built on rocky terrain. In an interview Tuesday, RGIII said in reality the two have a singular goal.

"We both want to win," Griffin said, via CSN Washington. "Jay came in here with the plan to help develop me as a quarterback, and help this team win. He wants me to go out there and be the quarterback he knows I can be, and I will be.

"My job is not to characterize or judge him as a coach."

Gruden was vocal in his judgment of the quarterback during last year's dismal 4-12 campaign. The question entering offseason workouts is how long Gruden will stick with the former No. 2 overall pick if struggles persist.

"We're going to make sure we work together in a positive way to make sure this team is successful," RGIII said. "We're going to win. That's all we can do."

If the Redskins don't win, both the quarterback and the coach will be looking for new gigs in the near future.
