Report: Marcus Mariota to have private workout for Titans

Marcus Mariota's pro-day workout Thursday will be attended by a lengthy cast of NFL coaches and scouts, but what might be most important to his draft stock will come afterward.

The former Oregon quarterback will reportedly perform a private workout for the Tennessee Titans, who hold the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, following UO's pro day, according to Fox Sports' Alex Marvez.

The Titans are certainly in need of a quarterback, and Florida State's Jameis Winston could already off the board as the No. 1 pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (which has been heavily speculated in mock drafts). If Winston goes to the Buccaneers, the Titans will have two choices: take Mariota at No. 2, or potentially settle for a quarterback later in the draft in a class of quarterbacks that tumbles in value after the top two prospects.

With the pending loss of free-agent quarterback Jake Locker, Tennessee returns Zach Mettenberger at the position for 2015.
