Rashard Mendenhall exits Steelers' loss with injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers' injury-plagued season didn't get any better Thursday night.

Running back Rashard Mendenhall was the latest Steeler to be hurt, leaving the 26-23 loss to the Tennessee Titans with an Achilles injury in the third quarter. He didn't return.

Mendenhall's backup, Isaac Redman, also hurt his ankle. Baron Batch scored a 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter after Mendenhall left, and Chris Rainey also was worked into the rotation.

Mendenhall returned from his torn anterior cruciate ligament to play very well last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he had just six carries for 6 yards against the Titans.

Pittsburgh also lost center Maurkice Pouncey to a leg injury and offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert to an ankle injury.
