Rams safety T.J. McDonald charged with DUI

Los Angeles Rams safety T.J. McDonald was charged Friday with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs, a spokesman with the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office told NFL.com.

The charge stems from McDonald's May 10 arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence after he allegedly hit a parked car in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Woodland Hills. His court date is scheduled for Oct. 7 in Van Nuys.

McDonald faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted on the charge, the city attorney spokesman said.

The Rams released a statement Friday regarding the charge:

"We are aware the city attorney filed charges today against T.J. McDonald stemming from his arrest in May. As this is an ongoing legal matter, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

McDonald, 25, has started in all 38 games he's appeared in for the Rams since being drafted out of USC in 2013, and is expected to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. Last year, he appeared in 11 games for the Rams before missing the latter part of the season with a shoulder injury that landed him on injured reserve and required surgery.
