Quinn set to make fourth career start against Vikings

CLEVELAND -- The secret's finally out: Brady Quinn will start the Browns' season opener.

Quinn beat out Derek Anderson in a summer-long competition, and was announced as Cleveland's starter an hour before Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Browns coach Eric Mangini told his QBs on Tuesday of his decision on a starter but refused to divulge his choice because he wanted to keep the Vikings guessing as they prepared their defensive game plan for Cleveland.

Quinn, a first-round draft pick in 2007, will make his fourth career start. He went 1-2 last season before a finger injury that required surgery. Quinn had slightly better statistics than Anderson, a former Pro Bowl selection, during the exhibition season.

The Browns will also start rookie Alex Mack at center.

Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian, who did not play most of the preseason because of a hamstring injury, was active for the opener. Berrian led the NFL last season with 20.1 yards per catch and scored a career-high seven touchdowns.
