Streaks
Prior to the aforementioned game, the Chiefs had won nine games in a row against their bitter AFC West rivals. Kansas City owns a 50-43-2 overall edge in the series. Check out the **historical matchup** of the last five games.

Last week
Kansas City put up a fight, but **ultimately fell** to the Patriots, 17-10. ... The Raiders did not put up much of a fight in **losing to the visiting Broncos, 41-14**.

Keep your eye on ...
The Raiders secondary: On paper, Oakland's defensive backfield is one of the most talented in the league. Both starting corners have made the Pro Bowl as recently as two seasons ago, and both starting safeties are in their prime and considered two of the most talented at their position. They got embarrassed in a **blowout loss to the Broncos** in Week 1 and have to play much better if the Raiders are to have success this season.

Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell: Taken first overall in the 2007 draft, Russell played sparingly in his rookie season after a lengthy holdout cost him a chance to participate in training camp or the preseason. This year, he is the unquestioned starter, and the team will look for him to make steady improvement after an inconsistent performance in Week 1.

Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe: The second-year wideout had an uneven outing in a **season-opening loss** to the Patriots. He did finish with five catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, but also had several drops. He figures to get plenty of looks against Oakland's struggling defense and his ability to catch the ball consistently could make the difference.

Chiefs defensive line: Three out of the four starters on this unit have fewer than two years of NFL experience. Second-year DE Turk McBride, second-year DT Tank Tyler and rookie DT Glenn Dorsey have a combined five career starts. They are promising players, but they will have to learn fast against an explosive Raiders rushing attack.

Did you know?
Raiders WR Ronald Curry has averaged 95.3 yards per reception in his three career starts against the Chiefs. ... In two career starts, Russell has a passer rating of 100.3. ... Chiefs RB Larry Johnson has rushed for 100 yards or more in four straight starts vs. Oakland. ... Chiefs LB Donnie Edwards has more sacks (5) against the Raiders than he has had vs. any other team in the NFL.
