The yellow flag: In the season opener, the Packers were penalized 12 times for 118 yards. Four penalties on a single drive pinned them at their own 9-yard line facing a first-and-33. A more costly penalty in the third quarter nullified a 68-yard TD pass.

Lions RB Kevin Smith: The Central Florida product collected his first NFL touchdown and rushed for 48 yards on 16 carries in Week 1. Not a bad debut, but the Lions need a bigger running attack to avoid comparisons to "the same old Lions."

Detroit's defense: Atlanta's ground attack placed the Lions' rush defense at the bottom of the league. Coach Rod Marinelli said the lapses are "correctable," and Packers RB Ryan Grant will test the adjustments this week.
