Quick Take: Jaguars/Patriots

In Brief

» Last meeting: The Patriots improved to 17-0 with a 31-20 playoff win over the Jaguars in 2007.
» Streaks: New England has won four in a row, and has a 7-1 overall series edge, including the playoffs.
» Last week: For the 13th consecutive time, the Patriots defeated the Bills. This time 17-10 at Buffalo. ... The Jaguars came close to upsetting the Colts, but dropped a 35-31 decision at home.

Keep your eye on ...David Garrard in the clutch: Jacksonville's signal caller has had a solid season, but he has struggled at the end of games recently. Garrard had an opportunity to lead his team on a game-winning drive in the final minutes in each of the last two weeks, and failed to do so both times. If Garrard gets another chance against the Patriots, and once again comes up short, it may end the Jaguars' playoff hopes.

Reggie Nelson's intensity: Jacksonville's third-year safety had a tough outing last week against Indianapolis. His inability to wrap up Dallas Clark resulted in one Colts touchdown, and he later gave up Reggie Wayne's winning touchdown catch. The Jaguars will need him to play better this week against the Patriots.

Tom Brady's effectiveness: Over the past four weeks, Brady has not played up to his lofty standards. He has completed just 58.3 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and six interceptions over that span. As the Patriots try to wrap up a playoff spot and head into the postseason, Brady will be looking to regain his Pro Bowl form.
