Quick Take: Favre steady in second start

What we learned ...

Brett Favre can still take punishment: The 38-year-old starting quarterback was sacked once and hit hard a couple of other times, but bounced right up on each occasion and played well. Penalties killed several drives, but Favre completed 9-of-12 for 96 yards. He had a couple long throws, including a touchdown, erased by flags.

Calvin Pace fits well into the Jets' defense: The Jets made acquiring the free agent Pace an offseason priority and he showcased his skills against the Giants. Pace is the hybrid linebacker coach Eric Mangini craves in his 3-4 scheme and he showed why by collecting 2 sacks and making plays all over the field.

Osi Umenyiora's health is vital to the Giants: The Pro Bowl defensive end was carted off the field with an apparent knee injury in the second quarter. He went back for x-rays, which were negative, and the team can only hope that the injury is not severe enough to force him to miss any regular season games.

Domenik Hixon is for real: The midseason pickup paid major dividends for the Giants last year as a special teams stalwart and this preseason he is showing he can make an impact in the passing game as well. Hixon had 2 touchdown catches in the first quarter last week and he followed that up with 3 receptions for 51 yards against the Jets.
