Colts QB Peyton Manning made the Titans pay for turning over the ball on their first possession of the second half. Seven plays after the Colts intercepted a Kerry Collins pass at the Titans' 31, Manning found rookie WR Austin Collie in the back of the end zone on a 6-yard touchdown toss that put Indianapolis ahead 28-9.

Game ball

Manning was 36-of-44 passing for 309 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. In the final minute of the first half, he led the Colts on a six-play touchdown drive that sent the home team into the locker room to a chorus of boos. Manning has five consecutive 300-yard games for the first time in his 12-year NFL career, and he joined Kurt Warner (2000) and Steve Young (1998) as the only QBs in NFL history to start a season with five consecutive 300-yard games.

Key stat

With three starters sitting out with injuries, the Colts' defense forced a fumble that set up the team's first touchdown, sacked Collins once and, most importantly, didn't allow the Titans to enter the end zone.
