That means surprise first-round pickMarcus Smith will likely be eased in behind Cole and Connor Barwin this season. Ultra-productive second-round wide receiver Jordan Matthews will start off as the slot receiver, replacing sticky-handed Jason Avant. Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper will start on the outside.
» The rest of the Eagles' draft class will have an uphill battle to make a significant contribution this season. Fourth-round pickJaylen Watkins -- Sammy's older brother -- has subpackage potential but is joining a crowded cornerback corps with Brandon Boykin entrenched at nickelback and veteran Nolan Carroll added for depth.
