Peyton Manning (foot) returns to Broncos practice

Peyton Manning is back at Denver Broncos practice Thursday.

The quarterback sat out Wednesday with what coach Gary Kubiak called a "really sore" foot injury. It wasn't a surprise to see Manning get some rest, as was the team's plan heading into the season.

"Who's not sore (in Week 10)?" Manning asked the media on Wednesday. "Trying to get better; trying to get healthy."

With Manning back on the field Thursday, there shouldn't be much concern heading into Sunday's divisional showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs. After he suffered a quad injury late last season, his status is still something to monitor as we dive deeper into the holiday season.

Manning enters Sunday three yards shy of breaking Brett Favre's NFL record for career passing yards.

Also of note at Broncos practice, Emmanuel Sanders is sitting for the second straight day, NFL Media's James Palmer reports. Sanders is dealing with an ankle injury but hopes to play in Sunday's tilt.
