Patriots re-sign WR Branch, add two free agent fullbacks

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots have re-signed wide receiver Deion Branch and signed free agent fullbacks Tony Fiammetta and Spencer Larsen.

Reuter: AFC East draft needs

Branch had 51 catches for 702 yards and five touchdowns last season. He was drafted by the Patriots in 2002, traded to Seattle in 2006, and re-acquired in 2010. He is part of a wide receiver corps that includes recently signed free agents Brandon Lloyd and Anthony Gonzalez.

The signings of Fiammetta and Larsen, both about 240 pounds, could signal a shift in the running game to include a blocking back. Fiammetta spent last season with Dallas after two seasons with Carolina. Larsen played fullback and linebacker his first two seasons with Denver and fullback the past two years with the Broncos.
