Owners unlikely to vote Tuesday on expanding overtime changes

IRVING, Texas -- There is growing momentum that NFL owners will not hold a vote to expand overtime changes to the regular season at the NFL Spring Meeting.

According to Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, the vote is highly unlikely to take place Tuesday, NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche reported.

NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora first reported Monday that there wasn't enough interest among owners to expand the rule for the 2010 season, according to league sources.

During the NFL Annual Meeting in March, owners voted to alter the overtime rules beginning with the 2010 postseason. If the overtime rule is tabled, was expected, it likely won't be revisited before the 2010 season, according to Wyche.

Teams must weigh several factors before voting to expanding the changes to all games, and some favor first analyzing the rule's impact in the playoffs. Others have expressed concern over adjusting to new rules during the postseason with a shot at the Super Bowl at stake.
