Ohio State coach Urban Meyer rebukes WR Evan Spencer

Ohio State wide receiver Evan Spencer said Monday that he believed the Buckeyes would "wipe the field" against any team in the nation.

Week 11: Things we learned

From AJ McCarron being tabbed the nation's most underrated player to Auburn's Nick Marshall outrunning Johnny Manziel, here are the lessons we learned from Week 11. **More ...**

Tuesday, during his portion of the Big Ten teleconference, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said he was "disappointed" in Spencer and that the player "won't talk to the media for a long, long time."

Meyer said the Buckeyes, third in this week's BCS standings, have a rule where players talk about the team and their teammates. "I don't like disrespecting other teams," Meyer said.

In a statement released by the school, Spencer said, "I did not mean to disrespect any team. ... I was having fun with the media answering their questions. I should have chosen my words more wisely."

Spencer is the Buckeyes' fourth-leading receiver, with 21 receptions and three touchdown catches.
