NFL Top 100 countdown begins Monday: Who are contenders for No. 1 spot?

One of the sleepier times on the NFL calendar will be kicked into gear Monday when the unveiling of the annual NFL Top 100 begins.

It’s the 15th straight year in which current league players have voted to determine the Top 100 and, ultimately, their choice for the No. 1 player in the NFL land.

Beginning Monday -- on X, NFL+ and NFL.com -- and running through Friday, Aug. 29, two new players will be revealed each weekday until the arrival of the top 10 at 8 p.m. ET, Monday, Sept. 1 on NFL Network.

Since its inception in 2011, the Top 100 has seen a quarterback voted the top-ranked player 10 of 14 times.

Last year, it was the Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill who was voted No. 1 by his NFL brethren, becoming the first wide receiver to garner the honor.
