Goff's predecessors

Goff was the eighth QB in the common draft era (since 1967) to not start as a rookie in Week 1 after being drafted No. 1 overall

-Other notable No. 1 picks who didn't start in Week 1 of rookie season: Alex Smith (2005), Eli Manning (2004), Carson Palmer (2003), Michael Vick (2001)

-The 2004 New York Giants started Eli Manning (first overall pick in 2004) for the first time in Week 11, replacing Kurt Warner. That Giants team started the season 5-4 with Warner, but had a 1-6 record with Manning over the final seven games.
