NFL Fantasy 2025 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Wide receivers for Week 17

You have lineup questions, we have lineup answers -- at least we hope so. Start 'Em, Sit 'Em is here to help fantasy managers make difficult roster decisions. And you know what is a good move? Starting Jahmyr Gibbs. But that's too obvious, so you won't see such simple analysis here. Instead, we're exploring more debatable situations. And if you can't find a player you are looking for, please check out the latest NFL Fantasy lineup rankings.

NOTE: Unless otherwise indicated, all stats come from NFL Pro, Next Gen Stats or NFL Research.

Start 'Em

New Orleans Saints NO

If Olave is on your roster, there is a good chance you are playing for a fantasy title. He scored 57 fantasy points over the last two weeks and has a chance to be this year's fantasy MVP with a favorable matchup against the Titans. They rank in the top 11 in yards, touchdowns and fantasy points allowed to receivers this season. Plus, Olave has averaged 17.7 fantasy PPG in games with Tyler Shough. The rookie QB ranks eighth in the league in completion percentage on passes of 10-plus air yards, proving his ability to take advantage of Olave’s downfield prowess. (EDITOR'S UPDATE: Olave was listed as questionable with a back injury on Friday's injury report.)

Baltimore Ravens BAL

Flowers has topped 1,000 receiving yards, while no other Ravens player has more than 400 yards this season. Flowers' lone issue is he scores touchdowns at a very low rate, which puts him in the WR2 or WR3 range. Despite the quarterback question (Lamar Jackson's status is up in the air), Flowers is in play due to the matchup. The Packers have struggled recently against receivers, allowing the seventh-most yards and most TDs to the position since Week 12. Green Bay also plays zone defense at the fifth-highest rate, and Flowers is the Ravens' top option against that coverage, recording roughly 500 more yards against it than any other Raven. That keeps him in play.

Chicago Bears CHI

We all know Moore is a talented receiver. It's nice to see the Bears realize this too. He has topped 21 fantasy points in each of the last two games without Rome Odunze (foot). It may have required an OT miracle to get there last week, but after watching Moore make the potential catch of the year, the Bears would be silly to shy away from him. Over the last two weeks, Moore has put up two of his top four performances in air yards per target this season. The 49ers are a middle-of-the-pack matchup for receivers, but they struggle to get after the quarterback and their offense can put up a lot of points. This could be a back-and-forth shootout. Moore has a good shot to stay hot on Sunday Night Football

Jacksonville Jaguars JAX

Meyers and the Jaguars have reached new heights since the midseason trade. During the six-game win streak, Meyers has averaged 13.9 fantasy PPG. He brings a very safe floor and has some clear upside. Plus, the Colts have struggled against receivers, allowing the second-most receiving yards to the position this season. Given how well Trevor Lawrence is playing and the Colts' defensive struggles in recent weeks, Meyers is in play in championship week. For those of you diving a little deeper, Parker Washington is in play as a flex option. His floor is low, but he brings clear upside as the top slot option for Lawrence in this matchup.

OTHER START OPTIONS: Falcons' Drake London (vs. Rams); Cardinals' Michael Wilson (at Bengals). ALREADY PLAYED: Commanders' Terry McLaurin (vs. Cowboys).

Sit 'Em

Los Angeles Chargers LAC

McConkey came through against the Cowboys last week in the best possible matchup a receiver can have. The Texans are essentially the opposite matchup, allowing the second-fewest fantasy PPG to receivers this season. They have allowed the third-fewest touchdown passes to receivers and have issued a league-low 54 percent completion percentage on passes to wideouts. The Texans get after the QB at an elite rate, which is bad news for a Chargers team with offensive line issues. Plus, McConkey scored fewer than five fantasy points in three of his last five games, so the floor is low. I would avoid starting McConkey with a fantasy title on the line.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TB

Egbuka may have been the Bucs' leading receiver last week with 40 yards, but he saw just two targets. Since Week 6, the rookie has reached double-digit fantasy points twice and topped 11 points once. That shows a low floor, and the upside has been non-existent. With the Bucs fully healthy at receiver, it is easy for him to get lost in the mix. He and Baker Mayfield have struggled to get on the same page. Pair that with the fact that the Dolphins are in the bottom 10 in fantasy PPG allowed to receivers this season, and it's stay away from Egbuka this week.

ALREADY PLAYED:

Detroit Lions DET

I'd put this one in the "beware" category if this was Fantasy Live. Williams has thrived since Dan Campbell took over play-calling, with 12-plus fantasy points in all but one game. He topped 23 points three times in that seven-game span. However, the Vikings are a tough matchup as they have allowed the fewest fantasy PPG to receivers. They have not allowed a touchdown to a wideout since Week 9. From Week 10 on, they have allowed the sixth-fewest yards. They have limited the deep ball as well. I get that some of you may not have a choice but to roll the dice -- I have to in one championship myself. But if you have other options you feel good about, avoid this matchup. There is one caveat: If Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) doesn't play on Christmas Day, ignore everything I wrote. Start Williams and sit Michael Pittman.

Kansas City Chiefs KC
Kansas City Chiefs KC

Rice is still in concussion protocol. But even if Rice is able to play, don't plan on putting him in your starting lineup in championship week. I have championed Rice for much of the season -- even calling him a top-five fantasy receiver -- but all of that goes out the window with the Chiefs down to their third-string quarterback, Chris Oladokun. The Broncos defense has allowed the fewest TDs to receivers this season, and in their first meeting of the season, Rice was held to just 38 yards and single-digit fantasy points. If Rice is out and you're considering starting Worthy, don't.
