New York Jets turn to YouTube to find kicking talent

The New York Jets found a new way to discover diamonds in the rough -- YouTube.

The organization worked out 27-year-old Norwegian Havard Rugland this week after seeing a YouTube video of him kicking field goals and other trick kicks. Former NFL kicker Michael Husted trained Rugland before the workout and compared him to Oakland Raiders standout Sebastian Janikowski.

The 2012 New York Jets season defies logic, Kimberly Jones writes, as evidenced by the three-headed QB debate. **More ...**

"Havard has incredible talent as a kicker," Husted told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, via NBCSports.com. "He has a cannon for a leg. As he continues to refine his technique, he could be one of the strongest kickers in the NFL."

Rugland is from Aalgaard, in southern Norway, and had no previous experience playing American football.

"On this trip things have evolved rapidly, from just training alone to training to try out for a team," Rugland told Norwegian broadcaster NRK. "From where I am now, playing in the NFL is a long way to go, but my goal is to get a contract before the preparations begin for next season."

The real question: Are there any quarterbacks who can complete more than 55 percent of their passes and have a video on YouTube?
