Nebraska senior tailback Ameer Abdullah became the first player in school history with three 1,000-yard seasons during the Huskers' 38-17 win at Northwestern.
Abdullah -- who was fourth in the nation in rushing at 146.3 yards per game coming into the weekend -- rushed for 146 yards and four touchdowns; it was his fifth 100-yard game of the season and the first four-TD game of his career. He now has 1,024 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns this season, and is second in the nation in rushing touchdowns, two behind Western Michigan's Jarvion Franklin.
Abdullah has 4,001 career yards and moved into second place on Nebraska's career rushing list, bypassing Ahman Green (3,880); he trails only Mike Rozier (4,780).
All four of Abdullah's touchdowns came on 1-yard runs; he had one in the second quarter, one in the third and two in the fourth, when the Huskers pulled away from a 21-17 lead. It was his fourth consecutive multi-TD game.
Abdullah had 23 carries, his fifth 20-carry game of the season and his 14th since the beginning of last season.
The Huskers (6-1) are 2-1 in the Big Ten West Division and trail Minnesota, the only team in the division without a league loss.
