Mother of Suggs' children drops $70 million lawsuit against him

BALTIMORE -- The mother of Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs' two children has withdrawn a $70 million lawsuit against him, and the couple is trying to reconcile, the player's attorney said Friday.

Candace D. Williams voluntarily withdrew the assault and battery complaint Thursday. A judge also rescinded a protective order that barred Suggs from contact with Williams, at her request.

"They're reconciling. They're working out their differences," said Lynn Hoffman, a lawyer for Suggs. "They were hugging outside of the courtroom."

Williams, 26, had accused Suggs, 27, of striking her on two occasions, breaking her nose the first time and spilling bleach on her during the second altercation. Suggs denied any wrongdoing and wasn't charged with a crime.

At a court hearing in December, attorneys for Suggs and Williams hammered out an agreement that called for Suggs to pay Williams $35,000 per month in child support, but that agreement is void now that the protective order is no longer in effect, Hoffman said.

Suggs and Williams have a 2-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son.

"She told the judge yesterday he was not a threat to her or her children," Hoffman said. She added that Suggs is happy that "he can go on with his life and this is all behind him."

Williams' attorney, Eric Gordon, didn't return a telephone message seeking comment Friday.

Suggs signed a six-year, $63 million contract before the 2009 season with $38 million in guaranteed money, making him the highest-paid linebacker in NFL history.
