Kellen Moore is currently a one-of-a-kind quarterback in the NFL. Out of the approximate 96 quarterbacks in the league, the fourth-stringer for the Cowboys is the last lefty standing. The league has seen a handful of great left-handed QBs, including Hall of Famers Steve Young and Ken Stabler.
However, the idea of lefties racking up any kind of passing stats in today's NFL is almost unheard of. In fact, this season, Dez Bryant was the only left-handed passer to throw for a touchdown.
It doesn't look like there are many lefties on the horizon, either. All of Mel Kiper's top-10 quarterback prospects for the 2017 NFL Draft are right-handed. Also, out of the last 70 quarterbacks selected in the past six NFL drafts, zero have been left-handed.
Back in 2015, Super Bowl champion and southpaw QB Mark Brunell told the Chicago Tribune: "Unfortunately, we're a dying breed. We need someone to relight and carry the torch for us. If we don't find that, we could become extinct here soon."
