When I saw Mikel Leshoure spoke publicly about his desire for an increased workload, my first instinct was to reach out to Kevin Patra, our ATL Chicago correspondent and resident tortured Detroit Lions fan.
Me: Can I have a review of Mikel Leshoure's Lions career in 30 words or less?
Ah, Lions fans.
It's been a lost season for LeShoure, who fell out of favor with coach Jim Schwartz and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan and was active for just three games this season. He led the Lions with 798 rushing yards last season, but found himself buried behind Reggie Bush and Joique Bell on the depth chart in 2013.
"I just want to be somewhere they're going to feed me the rock and I can go eat, man," Leshoure said, via the Detroit Free Press. "That's it. They could be the worst team in the NFL. ... Just give me the rock. I feel like I just need the ball. Even here, we don't really run the ball here."
Leshoure -- who, again, has a substantial physical investment in his Lions career -- needs a regime change to save his career in Detroit. That's likely to happen, though it makes Leshoure's future no less clear.
