Mike Shanahan would return for 'the right ownership'

Mike Shanahan's disastrous final season with the Washington Redskins hasn't soured him on finding another NFL coaching job.

Shanahan told USA Today's Jarrett Bell this week that he's interested in becoming a head coach again, but only if the situation meets several criteria.

Shanahan, 61, will only return to the NFL for a Super Bowl contender with "the right ownership" and salary-cap space to compete in free agency.

Once viewed as a potential Hall of Fame inductee, Shanahan can no longer write his own ticket to a plum coaching opportunity following a 24-40 run in four seasons with the Redskins.

Considering the particulars of Shanahan's wish list and the possibility that NFL teams have soured on him following the Redkins' 2013 implosion, the odds are high that he has coached his last NFL game.
