Miami Dolphins bring back Josh Freeman

In a surprising move, the Miami Dolphins have re-signed quarterback Josh Freeman after cutting him just four days ago, the team announced Tuesday.

It's unclear at this time why Miami cut Freeman last week only to re-sign him one day before players report for training camp -- the reason could be as simple as contract language.

The okey doke is just another odd twist in the signal-caller's career, which nosedived from promising young talent to camp arm in short order.

Freeman will enter camp as the third quarterback behind starter Ryan Tannehill and backup Matt Moore. The Dolphins also have McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who spent last season on the practice squad, on the roster.

Despite being re-signed, Freeman is a long shot to make the final 53-man roster, barring injury or shockingly brilliant play from the 27-year-old passer.
