Meriweather: 'I know I am' among best safeties in NFL

Our friend and Rotoworld scribe Evan Silva might have said it best:

Battered and thinned out at the position, the New York Giants did just that when they inked Meriweather on Sunday to fill out a position depleted by Mykkele Thompson's torn Achilles and the sprained knee suffered by rookie Landon Collins.

Meriweather is far from a savior. At 31, though, he still sees himself as one of the best safeties in the league.

"Yes, I know I am," Meriweather said in an interview released by the team, per NJ.com.

This is not an accurate self-assessment. Despite a pair of distant Pro Bowls, Meriweather is more known for his faulty coverage and rule-bending, fine-generating hits than anything heroic. Giants fans will learn this soon enough.
