Despite an increasingly contentious holdout, Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew recently said that he hopes to remain in Jacksonville. He should get his wish.
Asked Wednesday if the Jaguars were considering trading Jones-Drew, general manager Gene Smith flatly said "no."
"Maurice is a Jaguar," Smith said, via Vito Stellino of The Florida Times-Union.
Both Stellino and ESPN's Adam Schefter opined Wednesday that Jones-Drew's holdout would last into the regular season. History tells us that players show up when they're at risk of missing a big check. We still wouldn't bet against Jones-Drew being out there in Week 1, even if he's the temporary backup to Rashad Jennings.
