Maurice Jones-Drew says the gas tank isn't empty yet.
The Oakland Raiders running back told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday that he hopes to return with the franchise for his 10th NFL season in 2015.
"My body feels good and wish I played more," Jones-Drew said. "I want to stay in Oakland and turn this thing around."
We don't expect that to happen. Despite a memorable career, Jones-Drew -- turning 30 next month -- appears all but finished. Having never topped 30 yards in a game this season, the former Jaguars star finished the year with just 96 yards off 43 attempts. Over the past three seasons, MJD's yards per rush have tumbled from 4.8 to 3.4 to just 2.2 in 2014.
Down the stretch, Jones-Drew and fellow veteran Darren McFadden were overshadowed by tantalizing second-year runner Latavius Murray, who looms as workhorse-in-waiting for Oakland's incoming coaching staff.
