Namath has made it clear he favors Sanchez to be the starting quarterback over Tim Tebow for Namath's old team, the New York Jets.
Appearing at a United Way charity function Tuesday night, Namath said "there's no doubt at all" about who is the better quarterback. He added that "Mark is going to get better."
The Jets traded with Denver for Tebow, so that he can back up -- or, as some think, challenge -- Sanchez for the first-string job. Namath, who led the franchise to its only NFL title in the 1969 Super Bowl, added he is a fan of both quarterbacks and that Tebow can help the Jets.
He said he sees a similarity between himself and Sanchez, recalling how this will be Sanchez's fourth season and Namath won the Super Bowl in his fourth pro season.
