Marijuana case against Auburn's Nick Marshall now closed

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall's marijuana possession case is closed after his mother paid the fine for the offense.

Reynolds, Ga., police chief Lonnie Holder that Shalena Cliett paid two fines -- one of about $1,000 for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana and another of $100 for an illegal window tint on his vehicle.

Marshall was pulled over and cited in Reynolds on July 11.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn told reporters at SEC Media Days that Marshall would suffer consequences from the arrest, but did not say what they would be. Auburn opens the season Aug. 30 against SEC West opponent Arkansas. Malzahn would make quite a statement if he suspended Marshall for that game, but it seems inconceivable Marshall would miss a league contest.
