Marcus Lattimore finds new role to help kids prepare for football life

Thursday's health and safety news from the world of football:

  • on former San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore, who was unable to come back from a horrific knee injury in college, talked to youth football players Wednesday about having a backup plan in life.
  • The Daily Oklahoman reported that the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association board of directors approved recommendations Wednesday from the football advisory committee to limit teams to 90 minutes of full contact in practice each week instead of an unlimited amount.
  • Medical Xpress published a report on a Brown University study in the Journal of Neurotrauma which shows a candidate panel of blood biomarkers that can accurately signal mild traumatic brain injury within hours using standard, widely available lab arrays.
