Lions' Schwartz regrets Harbaugh incident, looks to move on

If Jim Schwartz thinks he can quickly move past Sunday's contentious showdown with 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, think again.

The heated postgame encounter was the main topic of discussion during the Lions coach's news conference Monday.

"It's a regrettable situation," Schwartz said. "Particularly the fact that it detracted from what happened in the game. I think I'll just leave it right there."

If you're concerned that the two coaches won't be able to co-exist again, here's some promising news. Schwartz said he and Harbaugh talked after things died down, and he believes they will talk again.

"It is what it is, it happened, it was very regrettable," Schwartz said. "It's something that there's nothing going forward between us personally and the two teams."

Schwartz handled himself well during the news conference, answering several questions on the topic before kindly asking for game-related queries. It's pretty obvious he would handle himself differently if given the opportunity for a mulligan.

Unfortunately for both men, no DeLorean is driving through that door.
