Detroit Lions quarterback Shaun broke his left arm late in the first half of Sunday's 28-20 road loss to the New York Giants.
Hill spent part of the second half on the sideline with his arm in a sling.
Hill was hit by Giants defensive tackle Barry Cofield on an incomplete pass to Kevin Smith. Hill immediately left the field and was replaced by Drew Stanton, who started the second half.
"Shaun Hill has a fracture in his forearm, his non-throwing arm," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "He wanted to go back in, but he had a hard time, no matter how we splinted it, trying to take a snap."
The Lions almost needed No. 3 quarterback Matthew Stafford, their regular starter, late in the game when Stanton was dinged. Stafford, who hasn't played since the season opener because of a shoulder injury, jogged on the field, but Stanton motioned that he was OK.
Schwartz said Follett was conscious and has movement in his limbs.
Follett's injury was scary. He lay on the field for about five minutes while attended by medical personnel from both teams. A backboard was placed under his back, then he was placed on a stretcher and carted off the field.
"We've heard from the hospital," said Schwartz, who didn't say to which hospital Follett was taken.
The Lions released a statement Sunday night following tests done on Follett and said there is no evidence of a fracture of the cervical spine.
“Both the MRI and CT tests performed on Zack this evening at the Hackensack Medical Center were negative," the team said. "Zack is resting comfortably and has feeling and movement in all of his extremities. He will continue to be monitored throughout the evening. We expect no further updates until Monday.”
Players on both teams took a knee after the play, which happened in roughly the same spot where Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand suffered a spinal-cord injury in a game against Army on Saturday.
Follett made head-to-head contact with Giants rookie Jason Pierre-Paul on the play on which he was injured.
"I knew right away he was hurt," Pierre-Paul said.
