Kevin Sumlin refers Johnny Manziel question to Browns

HOOVER, Ala. -- If Kevin Sumlin must be done coaching Johnny Manziel, he's most definitely done answering questions about him. There can't be much doubt the Texas A&M coach will miss Manziel's quarterback wizardry after two record-setting seasons with the Aggies. But he won't miss Manziel's off-field antics.

Or, at least, he won't miss answering questions about them.

Asked about some of the most recent photos of Manziel's nightlife Tuesday at SEC Media Days, Sumlin drew a clear line between the Manziel era at Texas A&M, and the new one.

"Is this SEC Media Days?," Sumlin asked rhetorically. "That's a great question ... about the Cleveland Browns."

Either sophomore Kenny Hill or freshman Kyle Allen will eventually be asked to step into the athletic, emotional, and social crater left behind by one of the most dynamic quarterback talents and personalities the college game has ever seen.

Sumlin might be tired of answering questions about a quarterback who hasn't been part of his program for more than six months, but he recognizes the void won't be an easy one to fill.

"I understand there's not going to be another Johnny Manziel," Sumlin said.

Manziel's nightlife has already become a hot topic in Cleveland after he was chosen with the No. 22 overall pick in the draft, but Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins recently praised Manziel for his professional focus. Still, it didn't take long for Browns head coach Mike Pettine to feel compelled to address questions about how the club is handling Manziel off the field.

This we know: It's not Sumlin's problem anymore.
