Looking for a way to help your teammates forget about a 52-0 beat down from the week before? You could always call the next game against a desperate crosstown rival a bloodbath.
That's what Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck opted to do on Tuesday, a not-so-subtle attempt to rile up his teammates down the home stretch.
"I think the best thing for us now is to turn all of our attention and our focus to what lies ahead, and that's this bloodbath that I think we're about to have against the 49ers," he said, via CSN Bay Area. "Big rivalry game."
Tuck spent almost a decade in New York, which teaches a player how to quickly rewrite a headline if need be. His then-teammate, Jason Pierre-Paul, used a similar gimmick before a Cowboys game not too long ago.
Of course, hyping up a game like this after suffering one of the most lopsided defeats in recent NFL history (it was the worst Raiders loss in more than 50 years) comes with its own set of difficulties.
If Oakland doesn't show up against a very hungry 49ers team looking to scramble back into the playoffs, they'll look a little silly. If they do, though, Tuck's genius will show once again.
