The Houston Texans have dipped into the free-agent pool to beef up their running back depth chart, agreeing to terms on a deal with Justin Forsett on Saturday.
Forsett, who had a tryout with the team on Wednesday, confirmed his deal on Twitter in a zany cross-promotional scheme that involved "athletic body wipes." Gross.
The former Seahawks running back will ostensibly play behind Arian Foster and Ben Tate in the Houston backfield. Javarris Williams and rookies Jonathan Grimes and Davin Meggett are also in the mix, though Forsett should be considered the favorite.
The Texans were likely drawn to Forsett's knowledge of the zone-blocking scheme he played in both at Cal and Seattle.
The team also agreed to a contract with former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Alan Ball, according to the Houston Chronicle. Ball will compete for a backup spot in the defensive backfield.
In four NFL seasons, Forsett has compiled 1,287 yards on 278 attempts for a promising 4.6 yards per carry. Most of that came with the Seahawks in 2009 and 2010. He managed only 145 yards last season.
