Josh Freeman being shopped by Tampa Bay Bucs

The corrosive relationship between Josh Freeman and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continues its daily dissolve.

NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Tuesday that the Bucs have been actively shopping Freeman and could try to unload the quarterback before their Week 6 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Freeman acknowledged last week that there was some discussion about a trade, and Fox Sports reported Sunday that the quarterback has requested to be traded or released.

After the latest controversy prompting Freeman to defend himself, it sounds like Bucs general manager Mark Dominik will be busy during the bye week trying to move the former starting quarterback. However, it's unlikely there will be many trade partners or great offers.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers plan to contact the 31 other NFL teams in an effort to accelerate a trade.

The trade deadline is Oct. 29 at 4 p.m. ET, so in theory the Bucs could hold out a few more weeks hoping a team loses its starting quarterback and becomes desperate. However, the most recent reports indicate the team has come around to Freeman's initial belief that it would be better for both sides if they parted ways. The sooner, the better.
