Jets' Buster Skrine flirts with Dream Team callback

Once upon a time, teams were afraid to be struck down by the famed "SI Curse." Today, the kiss of death comes by way of the dreaded reference to a "Dream Team."

New Jets cornerback Buster Skrine didn't go full D--- T--- during conversation with SI.com's Don Banks during OTAs. But his allusion was powerful enough to knock Vince Young out of his hammock in Austin.

"I've never played on a defense with this much talent," said Skrine, who signed a four-year deal with the Jets in March. "Our front seven has all-stars and then in the back end, we have all-stars. I've never seen anything like this. Everybody said the Philadelphia Eagles were going to be like the Dream Team, but we have chemistry on this defense already, and you can see it out in practice. I mean, we can match up however you want to match up. We can match up with any offense."

Buster refers to a rebuilt Jets secondary that now features himself, Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. The Jets also have perhaps the best front four in football, a group that includes Sheldon Richardson, Muhammad Wilkerson, Damon "Snacks" Harrison and prized rookie Leonard Williams.

The Jets could very well return to being a top-five defense this season, real estate the unit hasn't visited since the salad days of Rex Ryan. Skrine's excitement is understandable, but his only Dream Team talk going forward should involve Jordan, Magic and Barkley.
