Jerry Jones: Cowboys 'can't run from' Richard Sherman

Some teams prefer to ignore Richard Sherman's side of the field when facing the Seattle Seahawks.

The Dallas Cowboys don't plan on being one of those teams this Sunday.

After watching Deion Sanders shut down one side of the field for years in the 1990s, the Cowboys owner said his team can't just concede to Sherman.

"With all of the respect we have for him, we're going to have to give him some business over there or we will hurt the balance of what we can do relative to certainly the passing game," Jones said Friday on KRLD-FM, per ESPN.com. "We can't run from him. That's easy to say and hard to do. We got to challenge him and make him at least cover us one-on-one and Dez (Bryant) of course is the guy who can do it. So I don't see us compromising the rest of our offense by running from Sherman like that."

With DeMarco Murray and his 134-rushing-yards-per-game average facing a Seahawks defensive front allowing just 62 yards per game, the Cowboys understand they must be balanced to knock off Seattle.

Receiver Dez Bryant will play a big role in the Cowboys' plans when they do target Sherman's side of the field.

"It's just mindset, you know," Bryant said. "You have to go out there and play this game. No matter who it is, you have to go out there and play ... At the same time, you've got to give him that respect, because you know there's a reason we're talking about him and you've got to prepare for players like that."
