After failing to report to Cowboys training camp, Jeremy Mincey is back in Oxnard and ready to work.
The defensive end agreed to a $500,000 raise for 2015 and the sides will continue to talk about an extension, the team announced Sunday. Mincey's fines were waived, too.
"We came to fair grounds," Mincey explained to reporters after Sunday's practice. "Everything's in place and I'm just trying to be the best Dallas Cowboy I can be."
"It's good to have him here -- it was a good conversation," Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett told reporters. "We'll see how he's doing. He has to pass a physical and we'll ease him into practice."
Holding out for a contract extension, Mincey chose not report to the first day of camp Wednesday. After executive vice president Stephen Jones threatened to fine Mincey $30,000 for each day he misses, the Cowboys' 2014 sack leader reported to practice Sunday afternoon and was activated from the reserve/did not report list.
There's no doubt that Mincey deserved to be paid more than the $1.5 million he was expecting in 2015. Now that he's in camp, they'll continue working toward a new deal.
