After an embarrassing home loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Big Bluetravels to face the Seattle Seahawks in one of the toughest environments in the NFL. Another loss would send them to 3-6 and all but end any farfetched playoff hopes.
Echoing comments from teammates earlier this week, Jason Pierre-Paul questioned his team's heart.
"Honestly, it is not all about attitude, it is all about heart," Pierre-Paul said Thursday, when asked about the Giants' attitude heading into the second half of the season, per ESPN.com. "You can have the attitude, you can have the swagger, you can talk your way, but it is all about heart. If you don't have the heart to play this game, then we are going to continue losing."
JPP later said some of his teammates don't have heart.
"It's definitely missing from a lot of guys," he said. "But we'll get it together. We've got tomorrow, and then we play Sunday."
(If you can read that and not think of Cuba Gooding Jr. yelling, "No heart. No heart!!?? I'm all heart ..." in Jerry Maguire, then you are a better person than me.)
It will take more than heart to beat the Super Bowl champs on the road. With a roster decimated by injury -- especially in the defensive backfield -- the Giants hold an advantage in few spots Sunday.
One area they should prosper, however, is in the pass rush. The offensive line has been the biggest weakness for Seattle all season. If JPP and Robert Ayers can cause havoc in the backfield, it could short-circuit a Seahawks offense that has been up and down this season.
