Jameis Winston's accuser files federal lawsuit against FSU

Florida State has been sued in federal court by the woman who accused Jameis Winston of rape. The woman alleges in the suit that the university violated her Title IX rights by refusing to properly investigate the incident.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that the woman wants a jury trial and damages from FSU for Title IX violations of what the suit called a "clearly unreasonable response" and for allowing a "hostile educational environment."

The incident happened in December 2012. Winston wasn't charged by the state attorney's office after an investigation into the incident, and a ruling last month cleared Winston in a school code-of-conduct hearing.

The Sentinel reported that the suit alleges FSU intentionally hindered an investigation "so that Winston's FSU football career would be unaffected."

Winston, who won the Heisman and led FSU to the national title to close out the 2013 season, announced on Wednesday his intent to enter the 2015 draft.
