Jamaal Charles: Reid likely wishes he was Eagles coach

Andy Reid's return to Philadelphia on Thursday is, for obvious reasons, more than just another game.

The Kansas City Chiefs coach will face an Eagles team he developed and oversaw for 14 seasons. Reid's new star running back, Jamaal Charles, knows it's personal.

"It means a lot, so I hope we go out there and play for our coach," Charles told ESPN on Sunday. "You know what I'm saying? I know he has a lot of love for his Eagles; he worked there a lot of years and he probably wishes he was still coaching there."

Reid guided Philly to five NFC title games and Super Bowl XXXIX, but the Eagles fell to pieces last season, stumbling to 4-12 and paving the way for the arrival of Chip Kelly.

Whether Reid would have preferred to stay put is something he can answer better than Charles or anyone else. But if the Chiefs continue to build on their 2-0 start, Kansas City will feel like home very soon.
