Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune writes that the job has "all but officially been given" to J'Marcus Webb. That's the same Webb who struggled for much of last season, although he did show flashes of being a solid starting left tackle. Chris Williams, the Bears' 2009 first-round draft pick, was expected to challenge Webb, but it looks like he'll be a backup.
Biggs wonders aloud if Williams could get traded during camp. A personnel man from another NFL team reportedly inquired about such a possibility, but it sounds like the Bears would rather keep Williams as a "swing tackle." Williams has also started at guard throughout his career.
Getting Jay Cutler better protection figured to be one of Chicago's biggest priorities this offseason. They will largely rely on the same group that struggled last year.
