Help could be on the way for a struggling Arizona Cardinals offense that has managed just three points over the past seven quarters.
Although Larry Fitzgerald has yet to practice this week and is officially questionable, he's optimistic about returning to the lineup for Sunday's game at the Atlanta Falcons.
"I'm highly likely," Fitzgerald said Thursday, via The Arizona Republic, "but it's not my call, though."
Cards coach Bruce Arians said Friday afternoon that Fitzgerald will be a game-time decision.
Fitzgerald insists his sprained MCL isn't limiting his ability to run this week.
"I'll put my check up against your check and we can go outside and race right now," Fitzgerald quipped to a reporter.
The Cardinals are a physically and mentally tough team. The Falconsonly pretend to be.
With or without Fitzgerald, Arizona has an inviting matchup against an Atlanta defense that entered this week with the NFL's worst total defense (409.9 yards per game), worst passing defense (284.1) and 30th-ranked third-down defense (47 percent conversion rate allowed).
Here are some other injuries we are following Friday:
- Steelers corner Ike Taylor is on pace to make his return to the lineup for the first time since breaking his arm Sept. 21. Troy Polamalu (knee) is also expected to return after missing two games. Both defenders are listed as probable. Rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle) is listed as questionable.
- Raiders running back Latavius Murray won't play Sunday against the Rams after failing the final test of concussion protocol, coach Tony Sparano said.
- A bevy of key Washington Redskins are listed as questionable. Trent Williams and Jordan Reed are both questionable, but participated fully on Friday. Jason Hatcher, Ryan Clark and Chris Baker were all limited. Defensive back E.J. Biggers (concussion) was downgraded to out for Sunday.
- Dolphins corner Cortland Finnegan (ankle), who has missed the past two games, was limited all week and did not practice Friday. Tight end Charles Clay (hamstring, knee) also didn't practice and is listed as doubtful for Monday night against the Jets.
- Bills receiver Robert Woods is officially probable after being limited all week.
- Colts tight end Dwayne Allen (ankle) didn't practice all week and is officially out for Sunday's game vs. Washington. Cornerback Darius Butler is questionable, while Cory Redding (knee) returned to practice.
- Packers' rookie receiver Davante Adams is listed as probable in what could be a high-scoring contest against the New England Patriots. Linebacker Nick Perry is questionable.
- Vontaze Burfict (knee) and Margus Hunt (ankle) were ruled out for the Bengals against the Ravens on Sunday. Defensive end Robert Geathers (toe) and George Iloka (safety) are both probable after being full participants Friday.
- Bears linebacker Lance Briggs has been placed on injured reserve with a groin injury. Briggs previously said this "could be" his last year with the team that he's played with since entering the league in 2003. If so, that would make the Bears' win over the Buccaneers his last home game at Soldier Field.
- Michael Vick missed practice Friday after becoming ill during the walkthrough, Rex Ryan said. Muhammad Wilkerson is not expected to suit up, but his injured toe won't require surgery. Rookie tight end Jace Amaro didn't practice after suffering a concussion against the Bills.
- Terrell Suggs (foot) is probable for the Ravens against the Chargers on Sunday.
- Ahtyba Rubin (back) and Jabaal Sheard (foot) are questionable for the Browns. Karlos Dansby (knee) and Jordan Cameron (concussion) have been ruled out.
- Broncos tight end Julius Thomas (ankle) and cornerback Aqib Talib (hamstring) returned to practice Friday. Linebacker Brandon Marshall has been cleared from a concussion and will play Sunday, according to The Denver Post.
Broncos coach John Fox said Thomas looked "much better" than he did last Friday, according to ESPN. Thomas received treatment on his ankle every day after practice and his chances of playing will come down to how his ankle feels when he cuts.
- Jadeveon Clowney will miss his eighth game of the season as he continues to struggle with a knee injury. Bill O'Brien was noncommittal when asked if the team has considered shutting the No. 1 overall pick down for the year.
O'Brien also reiterated that he expects Arian Foster to return Sunday and he was listed as probable on Friday's injury report.
- The Falcons activated starting safety William Moore from injured reserve-designated to return Friday. He's played in just four games this season after suffering a shoulder injury.
- Chargers running back Ryan Mathews (shoulder), safety Jahleel Addae (concussion) and wide receiver Eddie Royal (toe) were all listed as probable.
- Bucs linebacker Lavonte David (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday after he did not participate earlier in the week. Da'Quan Bowers (knee) was a full participant after being limited earlier in the week.
- Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon (back) is listed as doubtful after not practicing Friday. After not participating Thursday, wideout Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) was a limited participant on Friday and is probable.
- Saints running back Khiry Robinson (forearm) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Wideout Robert Meachem (ankle) is questionable and cornerback Keenan Lewis (knee) is probable.
- The Jets ruled defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson (toe) and tight end Jace Amaro (concussion) out for Monday's game against the Dolphins.
