Injuries: Calvin Johnson expects to play vs. Packers

Calvin Johnson's ankle injury shouldn't keep him out in Week 10.

The Detroit Lions receiver missed Monday's post-bye practice, but said Wednesday his ankle is feeling better and he expects to play in Green Bay on Sunday. He practiced in a limited capacity.

Megatron exited the Lions' blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in London in Week 8.

Johnson said the ankle injury isn't as severe as the one that kept him out multiple games in 2014 and relegated him to decoy in several others.

With their offense in a tailspin, the Lions need Megatron on the field as much as possible as they try to salvage what remains in a disappointing 2015 season. Johnson has compiled 48 catches for 659 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Here's the rest of Wednesday's injury news:

  1. Dez Bryant didn't practice after tweaking his knee on his 18-yard touchdown catch during Sunday's loss to the Eagles.

Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee told reporters he hasn't been cleared from the concussion protocol yet.

  1. The Jets placed guard Willie Colon (knee) on season-ending IR and activated cornerback Dee Milliner (wrist) for IR boomerang.

Antonio Cromartie (quad) did not practice and is doubtful to play Thursday night against the Bills. Cornerback Buster Skrine (shoulder, hand) was limited in practice and is questionable to play. Calvin Pryor (ankle) has been ruled out.

  1. Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper suffered a quad injury at the start of practice and did not return, the team announced. Safety Charles Woodson (shoulder) and center Rodney Hudson (ankle) all did not practice on Wednesday.
  1. Eddie Lacy was limited by a groin injury, but coach Mike McCarthy said he thinks the running back "will be full go" for Sunday's game. McCarthy also noted that James Starks has become the team's No. 1 running back but they'll continue to go with a dual attack on the ground. Linebacker Clay Matthews (ankle/back), guard T.J. Lang (back), CB Sam Shields (shoulder) and wideout Ty Montgomery (ankle) were each limited.
  1. Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta is going on injured reserve, and there's a chance he could decide to retire. Coach John Harbaugh said doctors concluded that Pitta's hip wasn't responding well enough for him to play this year.
  1. Josh McCown was limited in practice as he continues to heal from a rib injury that kept him out of Thursday night's loss to the Bengals, according to coach Mike Pettine. The veteran quarterback told the media he's feeling better and still hopes he can play Sunday against San Francisco. Cornerback Joe Haden remains in the league's concussion protocol.
  1. The Titansactivated rookie running backDavid Cobb from IR boomerang. Cobb was sidelined for the first half of the season with a calf injury after looking like the most promising Tennessee running back in the preseason.
  1. Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson is practicing for the first time since returning from IR boomerang. Johnson has been dealing with a hamstring injury.

Linebacker Luke Kuechly (ankle) did not practice.

  1. Veteran Chargers wideout Malcom Floydwill attempt to play after suffering a torn labrum on Monday night, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. Floyd had already said 2015 would be his final season.
  1. Teddy Bridgewater is progressing nicely, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. "He's going through the protocol still," Zimmer added. The second-year signal-caller was limited and went through light work on the field but did not talk to the media as he still works through the concussion protocol.
  1. Bills running back LeSean McCoy (shoulder), wide receiver Sammy Watkins (ankle) and defensive end Mario Williams (calf) are all officially probable for Thursday's game.
  1. Bears running back Matt Forte (knee) was a limited participant in practice.
  1. Peyton Manning is nursing a sore foot and did not practice Wednesday. Broncos coach Gary Kubiak told reporters he expects Manning to practice Thursday.
  1. Patriots guards Marcus Cannon (toe) and Tre' Jackson (meniscus), linebacker Jamie Collins (illness) and offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (head) all didn't practice. Wideout Julian Edelman (knee) was limited.

  1. Ben Roethlisberger (foot) and DeAngelo Williams (foot) both didn't practice for the Steelers.
  1. Rams defensive end Robert Quinn (knee) sat out practice, the team reported.
