Indiana, Oklahoma State in Insight Bowl on NFL Network

The 2007 Insight Bowl matches the Big Ten’s Indiana Hoosiers against the Big 12’s Oklahoma State Cowboys in a live high definition telecast Monday, December 31, at 6:00 p.m. ET on NFL Network.

Bob Papa, Mike Mayock and Sterling Sharpe call the action from Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona, while Kim Jones provides sideline reports.

NFL Network has agreed to syndicate the telecast to the colleges’ local markets. The game will be seen on WXIN – FOX Channel 59 in Indianapolis and KSBI – TV Channel 52 in the Oklahoma City market.

Last year’s Insight Bowl was a history-making event. Texas Tech broke the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division 1-A) bowl record for the largest comeback ever as they rallied from a 31-point, fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Minnesota 44-41 in overtime.

Indiana and Oklahoma State will be meeting for the first time since 1930 when they tied 7-7 in Bloomington, Indiana.

Indiana is making its ninth bowl appearance and its first since the 1993 Independence Bowl. Led by first-year head coach Bill Lynch, the Hoosiers finished the regular season with a 7-5 overall mark and a 3-5 record in Big Ten play. Indiana’s seven wins are the school’s most since 1993 (8-4).

Under head coach Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State makes its fifth bowl appearance in six years. The Cowboys posted a 6-6 record this season, finishing 4-4 and tying for third place in the Big 12 South. The Insight Bowl marks Oklahoma State’s 18th bowl appearance. The school has the conference’s best winning percentage in bowl games (11-6; .647).

The 2007 Insight Bowl is part of NFL Network’s Path to the Draft coverage which includes the Texas Bowl, the Under Armour Senior Bowl and the 2007 Scouting Combine. Gavel-to-gavel live coverage of the 2008 NFL Draft airs April 26-27 on NFL Network. Earlier this season, NFL Network aired two regular season games, the Fountain City Classic matching Fort Valley State versus Albany State and the Circle City Classic between Winston-Salem State and Florida A&M.

In 2007, NFL Network will air nearly 200 football games, including eight regular season NFL games, 52 preseason games, 98 game replays, Super Bowl and NFL Classics, plus the Insight Bowl, Texas Bowl and Senior Bowl.
