Hargreaves could be pricing himself out of Dolphins' range

It's pro-day season, and College Football 24/7 is your one-stop shop for information and analysis on every workout. Here's a look at the key takeaways from Tuesday's pro-day action.

Florida: Hargreaves solidifies standing

Big draw: CB Vernon Hargreaves
Don't forget: DB Keanu Neal
Attending: All 32 NFL teams were represented at UF's new indoor athletic facility for workouts by 15 players. Steelers GM Kevin Colbert was among those present.
The skinny: Hargreaves said the Miami Dolphins were one of the teams to show him strong interest Tuesday at pro day. But if they want him, will they get the chance to take him? Between the club's trade down from No. 8 to No. 13 in the first round of the draft, and NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt's belief that Hargreaves has solidified his place as a top-10 pick, that's looking questionable. Miami's primary draft need is cornerback, but it's also the primary need for three clubs drafting ahead of them: the Dallas Cowboys (No. 4), Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 5) and Hargreaves' hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 9). . ... According to Brandt, RB Kelvin Taylorhad a strong workout. The son of former Jaguars star Fred Taylor turned in 40-yard dashes of 4.60 and 4.65 seconds. ... DB Keanu Neal, Florida's next best defensive back prospect after Hargreaves, ran a 4.59 40-yard dash and looked good in positional drills. LB Antonio Morrison, who had an impressive season at UF last year in coming back from knee surgery, missed the combine last month due to illness, per the school's official website. He ran 40 times of 5.10 and 5.16 on Tuesday. "The type of guy like me, these numbers and all that stuff ain't going to show what type of player I am," Morrison said. "You put the film on to see what type of guy I am. I'm a competitor. For what I had (knee injury), I could have easily said I wasn't going to do any of this stuff, but I'm a competitor and I wanted to come out here and compete with guys I've been doing it with for four years."

Louisiana Tech: Potential first-round DT improves 40 time

Big draw: DL Vernon Butler
Don't forget: RB Kenneth Dixon
Attending: All 32 teams were on hand for an impressive class of draft prospects from Louisiana Tech, including Butler, Dixon and QB Jeff Driskel.
The skinny: Butler ran a 40-yard dash of 5.15 seconds with the wind and 5.21 seconds against the wind. That's a big jump from his combine time of 5.33 and could give scouts a different perspective about the athleticism of one of the draft's most promising defensive tackles. Butler also tested at 33.5 inches in the vertical jump, also a big improvement from the combine (29.5). Brandt reported defensive line coaches from the Detroit Lions and New York Jets handled Butler's positional workout. ... Both Dixon and Driskel stood on their combine numbers. According to Brandt, Dixon was hampered by a hamstring problem during positional drills.

North Carolina: Guard stands on combine numbers

Big draw: OG Landon Turner
Don't forget: QB Marquise Williams
Attending: The Tar Heels drew scouts from 26 NFL clubs for a look at 14 players.
The skinny: Turner passed on combine drills in favor of a positional workout only, and weighed in at 327 pounds. New England Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia was reportedly keeping an eye on Turner. ... Williams threw passes but also ran a 40 (4.77) and broad jumped 9-foot-3, according to a release from UNC. ... WR Quinshad Davis (6-3, 218) ran a 4.65 40-yard dash. ... RB Romar Morris turned in the best 40-yard dash at 4.35 seconds and the best vertical jump (38 inches).
